Houston, fourth largest city in the U.S., is a leader in technology, business, entertainment, and the arts. Home of NASA's Johnson Space Center and the largest concentration of medical professionals in the world, the city is known for its cutting-edge research and technology development. It is also renowned for its superb arts and entertainment scene. Our Museum District is home to 15 institutions, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the sixth largest museum in the country, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Houston is one of only five cities in the U.S. with resident companies in all four disciplines of the performing arts — opera, symphony, theater, and dance — all found within the 17-block Theater District in downtown Houston.

A ride on the METRO Light Rail from downtown will take IRMMW-THz participants through the Texas Medical Center, the Museum District, Rice University, and the Houston Zoo. Other area attractions include Space Center Houston, the official visitors' center for NASA/JSC; the Kemah Boardwalk; the Downtown Aquarium; and historic Galveston Island. Houston offers entertainment day and night, with international cuisine available within walking distance of the IRMMW-THz conference site, the Hyatt Regency Houston. We invite you to our vibrant city and look forward to hosting you at IRMMW-THz 2011.
